This year's annual exhibition ÜberZeichnung by the NRW-Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Künste provides rare and intimate insights into the creative process behind an idea with sketches and working notes from 25 members of all classes of the academy. In addition to pencil drawings and manuscripts, the exhibition also features formats such as 3D prints, impressions, digital visualizations, and examples of AI-supported drawing.
Drawing is an archaic medium that shapes art and science with energetic force. Many works have their origins in a sketch whose lines first outline an idea. From that moment on, the idea is subject to the world and its laws.
The exhibition will show for the first time numerous sketches from Mischa Kuball's creative process over the last years and decades, supplemented by his 2000 work Six-Pack-Six.
The annual exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive supporting program, including a curator's tour by Tony Cragg and Mischa Kuball, as well as discussions and lectures. Further information can be found on the website via the link.
