Lecture by Mischa Kuball at Goethe Institute Saudi Arabia

The Goethe-Institut Riyadh is delighted to host Mischa Kuball's public lecture Licht, Aufklärung und andere Irritationen - künstlerische Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum on December 8 as part of “The Platz.”
In this lecture, Kuball will introduce his artistic practice and present selected works that deal with light, public space, architecture, and social engagement. The focus will be on examples that illustrate how art can promote dialogue between different cultures, including projects that resonate with audiences in Saudi Arabia.
In recent years, the Goethe-Institut has established contacts with cultural institutions and artists in Saudi Arabia in a variety of ways. These contacts are to be maintained and expanded in the spirit of sustainable work. The idea behind “The Platz” is to create a curated series of events that will attract artists, bind them to the Goethe-Institut in the long term, create a cultural art hub for creative minds and artists, and contribute to exchange between Germany and Saudi Arabia. With the involvement of artists and curators from Germany, Saudi Arabia, and neighboring countries, this project aims to teach young and emerging artists from Saudi Arabia specific skills and abilities through workshops and seminars. Experts from the cultural sector who are based in Saudi Arabia can also be involved. A complementary program of readings and discussions on artistic concepts in the field of film would be conceivable. In a series of guided discussions and/or workshops on artistic topics with the participation of artists from Germany, Saudi Arabia, and neighboring countries.
The project “The Platz” will take place in Riyadh in 2025 and will continue in other cities in 2026.
