Oval Light

Herne, 1999

The light installation communicated with the cubic building designed by French architect Françoise Hélène Jourda, which is transparent thanks to the glass surfaces. The elliptical shape of the surrounding landscape was set in relation to the academy building as a space-creating light projection. A total of 41 points of light marked the course of the oval in the light color blue. On light poles ranging from 2.20 to 17.50 meters, they rose out of the ground in progressive steps until they reached the same height as the top edge of the building, thus clearly showing their orientation to the existing architectural structure.
